Our program is designed to support the successful development of entrepreneurial companies through an array of business support resources and services, developed and orchestrated by incubator management and offered both in the incubator and through its network of contacts. Incubators vary in the way they deliver their services, in their organizational structure, and in the types of clients they serve. Successful completion of a business incubation program increases the likelihood that a startup company will stay in business for the long term: older studies found 87% of incubator graduates stayed in business, in contrast to 44% of all firms.
Seed accelerators are a modern, for-profit type of startup incubator, with an open yet competetive application process, taking in classes of startups consisting of small teams, supporting them with funding, mentoring, training and events for a definite period (usually three months), in exchange for equity. The primary value to the entrepreneur is derived from the mentoring, connections, and the recognition of being chosen to be a part of the accelerator. The business model is based on generating venture style returns, not rent, or fees for services.
TA2 was organized in 2011 and launched in January 2013. Currently, the accelerator program is in its final stages and will begin accepting applications for portfolio companies in April 2013. With strategic partnerships finalized and networks developed, TA2 anticipates accelerating 10 companies in the September 2013. Teams that complete the TA2 Accelerator program will be admitted to the TA2 incubator with promising teams receiving potential follow up funding.
